Default I'm in a dj comp tonight...

I'm into the second round of the South West dj competition run by Reform records tonight, any Exeter peeps who like hard trance, pop along to the cavern to give me a little support - I imagine the rest of the contestants are gonna be d'n'b or hip hop, so it's going to be quite a shocker when I come on and drop some italian hardstyle...

    Default Heats

nah mate... they're all separate heats.... i think tonights one is just for hard trance/hard house cos a few of my mates were in the d'n'b one a few weeks ago.... I would venture down but i've got to sort our flat/put up shelves etc. or i'll get murdered by my girlfriend... might try and sneak out tho!!

It was a bit of a farce really, it was a strictly hard trance comp, which suited me down to the ground, only the guy that won didn't play hard trance! There were 5 of us in the event, and they chose one winner, the rest of us came joint second, which was a real cop out. I truly believe that the judges didn't have a ****ing clue, it's hard to express unless you heard it without coming off as bitter or big headed, but my set was easily the best of the night, I played:

    1. Julian Dj & Davide Sonar - Techno Noise
    2. Alantic Wave - Reforced
    3. Tuneboy - Demolition
    4. Tronik - Nervous Attack
    5. Brain Ovulation - Kicks & Bass
    6. Jimmy the Sound - Modulo
    7. The Crow v Arne L ll - The Speed
    8. Technoboy - Hardrive (lesson 2)
    9. Tamok - Resistance is Futile

All my mixing was spot on, one of the best mixes i've had in ages, and people danced to my set, but no-one elses (even one of the other dj's was dancing to mine). The guy who was the 'clear winner' played shit like POS 51, Yomanda - Stars up in the Sky and Organ Donors - 4 tribes. All his stuff was at least 3 months old and his mixing wasn't great (too much fading). He sounded like he had just copied a Judge Jules set from a couple of months ago, yet this guy won over me!

It was just the reform guys, like you say, they seem pretty sound but didn't have a clue on hard trance, hence why they picked somebody who played techy trance to win. Bad though I think, surely there must have been somebody in the know with regards to hard trance who they could have consulted.
