Fair play to pots, I would have given my right arm for a detailed review like that. I think he may have gone into a little too much detail though and mentioned things that really didn't need mentioning. Still an honest one which is more that I can say for some people on here.

Glad you didnt take any of that the wrong way Si, I was starting to have my doubts after everyone exploded! On reflection I shouldve sent it as an email like i normally do. Anyway, I'll have it with me on the way to work again this week and let you know how my opinion changes as i get to know the tracks better. I agree with you on the slow pace of hardstyle production at the moment. I might make a mix soon, I just need to find a couple of tracks to complete my list. Especially this ID from the Luna @ Q-Dance set...

Nah COL, he wasn't referring to you, he meant that a lot of times people don't actually write a detailed review, and sometimes say a CD is good even when it isn't to avoid offending the DJ. It's something we've discussed before, so I know he wasn't getting at you. Your's was detailed and I appreciate it!

Just finished listening to the CD mate. Sounds good! Like the tune selection, nice and flowing, and the mixing was quality. At points I had to check to see what track was playing as some of the mixes were that smooth! Well done! And for me to say that I must have liked it because I am not the worlds biggest hardstyle fan. Will be taking the time to check out some more after this CD though ;)

Having listened to the CD again I think I should add a few more lines:

In all my comments on the quality of the tracks i think i failed to praise you enough for the quality of the mixing. At first i hadnt realised how fast you were getting through the records, and I missed a lot of the little vocal snippets you added in here and there. The speed at which you must have been cueing must've been a sight to behold! You should be very proud, as it is a real step up from previous Excessive's where to my recollection there was rarely a quick mix among them.

However I have yet to change my opinion on the majority of the tracks, and i dont think i am likely to. I think this comes as a combination of the copy-cat nature of a lot of the hardstyle scene at the moment, as well as my general apathy towards a large proportion of it. Your last CD was, as you said, at a time when there was a great deal of quality in the scene, and in comparison these are lean times for a DJ. Im sure you like all of the records though, so put this down to a difference of opinion.

Having said that about the records though, they would most likely all sound amazing on a club sound system and i would doubtless be bouncing away all through the set, especially as the energy is kept up through the tight and fast mixing.

Still think 1.03 on track 1 sounds dodgy though ;)

Voorheez I know you deserve more from me especially as you gave me a "warts and all" review of my last mix, but I really can't fault this at all. I'm normally quite good at picking out when a track ends and begins but this was just one continuous track to me apart from where I owned a few of the tunes. Mate you have restored my faith in this genre and I'm looking forward to you playing for us in November.

Vorheez had a good listen fella and im very impressed. Main points on both EQIng and quality 'smooth' fading throughout. EQing very good in the mixes as nothing sounded out of key, or when beatmixing nothing sounded over-powered, nothing sounded 'crashy' through good EQing. Sounded professional and bangin' 18 tracks on a CD takes some doing.
Fading was also class, some mixes went without noticing and even the hardset of fades didn't seem a problem, i.e when a track has broke for the vocal and you have to do a tight cut without the master volume being effected.

    Well done, mate, nice one!

Sorry if this post is late!! Have'nt been on for a while...
Have to say Vorheez Quality!! ;)
Better than Vol 6... Mixes were alot better, and quicker, an all round improvement from my point..

When the cd comes into track 10 -11.. i feel though it loses its flow, it has nothing to do with your mixes, but i think it boils down to the fact that maybe hardstyle can only be varied to a certain degree.. I think it repeats itself in varous different ways, which can be noticeble at times, ie: Basslines, kickdrums etc.... this is not with your cd, but hardstyle as a whole.. Maybe it has had a little bit to much exploitation

Nice and Hard though, i was well impressed with mixin, could'nt compliment you enuff, we were all bouncing in my mates house..

The second paragraph above, i think maybe what am tryin to say was, that something a little different in your set, could of given it that extra edge, Maybe some Hardtrance, but dark, or maybe even a techno record..

But overall mate, a top quality effort, well thought and constructed..
    8.5/10

Pots, I finally hear what you mean about 1.03. It don't sound too great, you're right - I thought you meant the whole mix sounded duff, not just four beats. I've listened to this CD loads of times and i've never noticed it before. There are actually many little bits like that in this CD that I have noticed and don't like now, but I think it works well as a whole.

I had to make this CD very technical because I didn't think that the tracks alone would make the CD. A few people have said they don't like certain parts or certain songs and I thought this might be the case. Over the last 6 months or so I feel hardstyle has been very weak, I struggled to find tracks I liked to put on here, so I'm glad you all notice and appreciate the technical side of things also.

I'm very grateful for all the feedback guys, and i'm pleased that you all seem to like it.

Yeah, again you are right, this is the first 100% hardstyle volume - the trouble is that hardstyle (the stuff I like anyway) is getting harder whilst hard trance is getting a bit more floaty (again, the stuff I like anyway) so it makes them a bit hard to put together.

Out of interest - what is everyone's favourite track/s on my CD?
