sounds like your graphics card could be on its way out. this then starts eating up cpu, which in turn screws with your DAW.

if not then theres a possibility that your ram has fudged up.. again causing massive strain on cpu.

in both cases get a lend of replacements and try them out. sounds like you're gonna have some fun playing the trial & error game :(
