Thats why I always get irritated by people who try to label sorts of music...and especially sorts of hardstyle....

When is there a need to differentiate? What purpose does it serve? The way i see it, you can say DJ Isaac is cheesy hardstyle and luna is techy hardstyle without the need to create new genres.

In saying one is cheesy and one is techy you have already differentiated between them.

I think the need arises to define two seperate genres because of the difference between say the Italian Masters kind of stuff (raw, techy, extremely hard stuff) and the fun, bouncy kind. They are quite far apart in sound.

    Default genres

dunno about you but I like genres - you just have to keep it to something that has a decent number of artists, geographically localised and a very distinctive sound... and then make sure you always make the parent genre clear... like London Acid Techno.

Hardstyle, Hardbass etc.. could be anything would it not be just simpler to say Hard Dutch Trance and cut the rest of the rubbish?

And plus there isn't any trance in hardstyle, so you can't call it any form of trance. That was the orginal need to redifine

as far as i'm concerned only one major genre has been created recently: hardstyle.

tbh, hardstyle is only a certain form of hard trance that ppl have really focused on. but now (after all the similar tunes) i see hardstyle as meaning non melodic, low bassline hard trance that has the occasional gabba influence.

ok fair play. it's developed into a genre. it deserves to have a genre (within hard trance) to itself.

the first i'd heard of hardbass was gary d.

so automatically i linked hardbass to the german version of hardstlye (which i think gary d is trying to promote???) ie german trance with a more harder bassline.

but then again this was done years ago in certain ways and still called hard trance.

mind you.. quite alot of german producers are now trying to come back and create a german version of hardstyle. and that perhaps is my definition of hardbass. but hardbass should not be labelled until more producers follow this route. which i know they will.

so that's my shaky definition at the mo: german hardstyle.

    someone prove me otherwise.

things are splitting so much recently. it's shit. MIND you - you HAVE to keep on top of this stuff. you can't help the way ppl are. either accept it or disappear up your own arse - that's my philosophy.

genre's are going to happen. like it or lump it.

untill something completely new happens we're all going to keep splitting.

I believe the word trance means "hypnosis" and i believe that trance producers are trying to put the lissners into a dreamsituation whit hight atmosphers and i believe that whit hardtrance is that the atmospher is still there only the sound is harder the same as the drum&bass, whit hardstyle or hardbass i can't hear the atmospher that trance has, so it's a style of his own......... there isn't "trance" in hardstyle or hardbass, yet

Still i think that there is a difference between hardstyle and hardbass, it's diffycould to explain, cause the difference is small

i can say if u lissen to the "sound of hardbass" from da tekno warriors and to "dhhd" from luna meets trilok & chiren, then u can hear differences between the styles, it's small but still...........

The word "german hardstyle"..... i don't think that the germans where the first to make the name hardbass... i don't know who is that bastard, but when u find that man...... he can explane if there is a difference between hardstyle and hardbass....... maybe it is gary d... who's gonna say??????

NEway my opinion is hardstyle or hardbass is not trance or hardtrance
i don\'t need my mouth to talk........
