Default So...what non-dance music are you into?

At the core of my love of music rests certain bands from the sixties...particularly the Rolling Stones (best band EVER, IMHO)..the Kinks...the Moody Blues

Bowie hits some of the right buttons in my heart...and as for recent bands give me the likes of Kasabian and Ladytron

More randomly i have come to love the "gypsy jazz" of Grapelli and Reinhardt - check out an album called Hot Club de France

I am also (quite frankly) overwhelmed, by a lot of classical music... Vaughan Williams (who is so evocatively English) , Elgar, Beethoven and others, I think I am only starting to truly appreciate the works of artists such as this....it really seems truly immense

    :)

The last few days I've been enjoying listening to Roedilius. There's a new double CD of his called "Roedilius : Works (1968-2005)" that's worth getting your hands on.

The drummer from Paradise lost lives near my partents. I was massivley into all that stuff. Dunno if that vibe is still going. They did a fair few albums which got progressively worse.

I'm very into old school reggae. Roots, dub and ska are my favorites. I've got almost as many reggae records as I do techno records. I'm not going to list any because it will turn into a massive list and I don't want to get into that.

    Others:
    Punk/Hardcore
    Agnostic Front
    Madball
    Biohazard
    G.B.H.
    Crass
    Sick Of It All
    Youth Of Today/Shelter
    Gorilla Biscuits
    Quicksand
    Helmet
    A.P.P.L.E.
    the Crucif*cks
    the Circle Jerks
    MDC
    Black Flag
    Christ On Parade

    Metal/Thrash
    DRI
    Corrosion of Conformity
    the Accused
    Godflesh
    Sepultura
    Mastodon
    Slayer
    Suicidal Tendencies
    DETHKLOK

    other stuff
I'm also into what we americans call britpop i.e.
    Bloc Party
    Franz Ferdinand
    Snow Patrol
    British Sea Power
    The Charlatains
    Stone Roses
    Inspiral Carpets
    Happy Mondays
    My Bloody Valentine
    Bjork
    Jesus and Mary Chain
    the Mission
    Fields of the Nephilim

This list could go on and on and on and on.....
