    vst? not that i believe....

Synapse Orion Platinum has a very cool little module in there called the XR-909 that sounds amazing for software. Quite frankly i was more willing to buy that program rather than buy my real TR-909, but too bad Orion only worked on a windows platform and im on a G5...

anyways, you can give that a shot, or just download some samples of them lying around on the internet. If you are a huge freak about quality and are willing to pay up the arse for a sample CD, then you can visit this link and get ripped off, but be happy knowing that they probably took a good time getting you the most out of the 909 as possible....

Search for 909 samples on soulseek, there's a few decent packs around.

Then load into a sampler :)

I know there are all these sampleing VST drum machines out there.. but I dont believe that there has not been one analog modeled vst that can actually compete with the real machines.

It's as simple as synthisis gets (as compared to all theses other synths that are getting recreated these days)

more the interface of the TR909 that i was looking for. ive used the Orion 909 & its decent enough for my needs.

a decent Refill would be pretty cool. any TR909 refills ive sourced have been awful.. the Redrum is very similair to the 909 layout imo..

    cheers anyhoo :)

I guess, but if youve ever had a chance to use a 909 for a good length of time you'll realise there really ISNT a good substitute, not even e decent sampled version.

    they are truly unique.

i find that samples cannot reproduce the same KICK than my tr-909. But having said that, i think potential buyers of the real 909 should realize that pretty much everything else can be sampled perfectly....

for example, the rides and claps can pretty much be sampled on the dot. I dont know anyone that really uses the snares on that sucker, but the 909 kick is KING

is the 909 not a mixture of samples & synthesis ? i was told such a while back by (supposedly) educated musician who worked ina decent shop.

    could be dogsh*t.. anyone ?

    actually your right,

the majority of the sounds from the 909 are samples, but the snare and kick are all analogue circuitry.....this is why i think everything else can be pretty much sampled, with the exception of the Kick. (but then again, not to flame another analogue vs. samples debate, after a shed load of distortion/compression/EQ, who can tell the difference between the original 909 drum kick to a sample loaded into Kontakt anyways? Its not like someone is gonna run up to you at the DJ booth and say "hey man, this track has a sampled drum kick, it aint the real 909")

I`d go for the sonic charge microtonic.
It`s kick generation is monstrous, and you can just use samples for the Hats and rides, as they are samples in the 909 anyway.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?
