yeah mate... you could go right on one about electronic music... mark will know loads of stuff... the moog synthesizer was one of if not the first snths and i think i guy called edward? moog made it in the mid to late 70`s .. by the 80`s snths were in all over the place.. i think kraftwerk were around in the late 70`s though... you could go on about acid house and early detroit techno... oh yeah and disco was a big influence too i think...

yeah mate theres alot of stuff... after all its a global phenomenon ... you had stuff going on over here (ENGLAND -1988 summer of love _ acid house _ then hardcore _ then jungle (they went there seperate ways) _) and stuff going on abroad and then styles mixing together to create new forms of music... i mean six or seven yeahs ago what i called trance was what i`d know call Psychodelic trance / Techno so it is very confusing stuff.... anyway im not helping man

yeah mate, i did a similar assignment last year.

disco was a massive influence if you want to delve into the roots of dance music. gay peeps were very influential also, in a sense that they repressed from society, by attending disco clubs and using drugs, this was a major factor in the creation of dance music.

also djs used to play rock records etc, etc, and they found that people enjoyed listening to the drums within the tracks, thats basically how looping came about, and why dance music was created.

get hold of the book "last night a dj saved my life" it will tell you every thing you need to know about the bare roots of dance music.

if you need any info on what happened from early 80's onwards give us a shout.

and the technics website will provide you with some good info on dj history dating back from the 70's onwards.

hope this is some help corbz, good luck.

by the way i failed my assignment on the history of dance.

    only kiddin! ;)
