looks the shit cant wait to get this
This looks GOOOOD. Some good basic functionality seems to have been added here. Mixer presets and drag and drop sounds sweet. Dunno if I like Halion much, but it's always good to have a sampler if you can't afford Kontakt!
I just wish they'd spend more money on developing the sequencer rather than adding more VST/ VSTis and let third party developers take care of it. I've never liked Steinbergs effects or instruments.
The new VST3 API is cool too. I hate having Kontakt/ Battery create 32 mixer channels - because they HAVE to in order to allow external mixing. Such a waste of resources... Can't wait for NI to upgrade the plugins to take advatage of them. I just wonder if they'll be willing to drop the VST2 API for backwards compatability's sake. Hopefully they'll release both.
All in all, it sounds like a worthwhile upgrade (not like last time)
they do??? since when? just set the outputs within battery innit?I hate having Kontakt/ Battery create 32 mixer channels - because they HAVE to in order to allow external mixing
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooh!!! Thanks
I'm a cubase guy myself and excited about V4... however I'm also really starting to like the look of the new features in Sonar.. Version 6 just came out ...

If it had the ability to integrate with external gear like Cubase.. I'm pretty sure I'd switch. The functionality and usability on sonar is tits.
Hmmm
i'd be more interested to listening to its audio engine. They really needed to improve that.
Some of those sound management functions seem a bit too much, but we'll see.
What part of the audio engine bugs you?
It's good that they're using 64 bit internal processing now though. Even if it's 32 bit, after enough processing even the smallest floating point inaccuracy magnifies itself. You just have to make sure that all the plugins you're using are actually capable of outputting 64 bit word lengh data or it's all pretty pointless...
