    Default balancing issues

I'm really in a rut when it comes to balancing my mixdown, i can't seem to figure out how to be sure i have my low end at a proper level relative to the rest of the mix, so its not too bassy/not bassy enough.

Does anyone have any advice on this subject?

Oh, and make sure you're not using an MP3 for comparing bass levels... MP3 encoders use high and low pass filters to strip out "inaudible" sound. Rather rip a CD to WAV or AIFF and A/B like that.
