I think techno has moved on and changed, only a lot of people haven`t moved with it. So some people are still clinging on to the sound of 2000 and wondering why that punter is turning away from it, or that the club attendance is down.
Problem is that techno has always been fluid, and moved on, and we are now at the stage of 5th generation producers now.
Mostly fan boys, who have spent years emulating the sounds of their fave producers, who have themselves moved on.
There`s a huge spread of styles from the legacy of techno and people seem to be closing off their blinkers to diversity, so some nights tend sound the same all night, and some records sound the same release to release etc.
I think there`s plenty of life left in techno, but not much life left in the old model still clinging on from 99-2000
Solitary by nature.
Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

The law is not the private property of lawyers, nor is justice the exclusive province of judges and juries. In the final analysis, true justice is not a matter of courts and law books, but of a commitment in each of us to liberty and mutual respect. - Jimmy Carter
i think to most "normal" people techno is still a dirty word, it represents the most monotonous music imaginable and drives many clubbers and ravers away simply because of the stigma attached to the name.
its music made with machines isnt it? the whole point of genre's is to make music easier to market... i.e trance, house, r'n'b or whatever....but techno's different because without even trying it forms the "basis" of these other styles.....take a hard trance track for example and strip away the melody, add a few twists and what are u left with? is that techno or is it just unfinished trance ?
am i talking shite? :-)wheres me pint> **** me its 2am
i agree...its a while since ve been excited by a techno gig
most djs seem to be just playing it safe, being technically sound etc.
djs just need to let loose and play records they like, whatever genre it is, instead of confining themselves to a pigeon hole
