    Default MARK EG INTERVIEW

Mark kindly took some time out to do a short interview for us at Hardstyle UK, thought some of you guys would like to have a wee gander at it. Cheers Mark!! :)

    MARK EG

1 - Hello Mark, tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into the Dance scene?

Well it wasn't really the 'dance' scene as such that I got into - more the electronic music thing. It started in the early 80s with electro and sort of mutated from there.

2 - What are your most memorable experiences from DJ'ing and Production so far?

Defintely having our first releases out. That was something I'll never forget. You work your ass off to get something that half resembles a track and then when it comes out it's the most incredible buzz. Even more so when you hear it played out

3 - Mark, where have you enjoyed playing most so far in your career around the world?

Where have I enjoyed the most? God there's too many places to mention. You know, I'm so privileged to be doing this that I really try to enjoy every aspect of where I play. I must say though, recently, I've found myself really looking forward to open-air parties. Dance Valley in Amsterdam this year was a scream as was anywhere I could find a place on the grass to sit and have a beer!

4 - Where do you find your inspiration comes from?

    One thing - MOOOOOOOOSIC!

5 - What producers are your favourite at the moment?

Again, too many. But right now I'm really feeling Zany's stuff in hardstyle, Blutonium for the crossover hard bass shit and definitely Underground Resistance for techno right now!

6 - What are your top 5 Hardstyle/Hard Trance tracks at the moment that you've played out recently?

    In no order:

    DJ Neo 'Yeah'
    Rage Attack 'Beyond Nightmare;
    Audio Damage 'Evil'
Le Brisc and Kai Jaxx 'Work Yah'
    DJ Overdog 'Ready'

7 - What are your opinions of the Hardstyle scene at the moment?

Love it! I'm not too into the cheesy stuff but I'm really feeling the progression with the more techy side. Some of Zany's recent things have really hit the spot for me. What I like about hardstyle is, if you look deeply enough, there's a massive progression going on. But you gotta look hard! You can always find something new and exciting out there with hardstyle at the mo.

8 - If you could work with any other producers in the studio to create the ultimate collaboration, who would they be?

Bloody hell now you're asking! I suppose I'd like to go into the studio with anyone who's ever had a track out that I've buzzed off. I love learning from ppl and everyone always has a slightly different way of doing things. That's the complete uniqueness about music making!

9 - What advice can you give to others that wish to get into music production, and Djing?

Getting into production is so much easier now than it was when I started. But remember, making quality music is a different ball game entirely. Just read all you can, join forums - all the information is out there. Just envelop your whole mind with making music or djing or whatever and you can't go wrong.

10 - What are your plans for the rest of 2006?

To stay doing what I'm doing!
