what a great topic. i'm sorry to say but i'm one of those who falls into the upfront category. that's why you really have to push me to play old school. i just can't see the point in it half the time. you might as well hang your headphones up if you're going to do that i reckon. save your classics for your bedroom and the odd set that is going to be highly memorable (ie last night of country club ;) ) my opinion of course...
for me it's all about new music. it's all about how music develops. that's what is the exciting thing about music in my head. listening to new stuff and fresh stuff keeps me going. it's what drives me. if i was just playing old stuff, i know i'd get so bored. there would come a time when you'd heard that same tune for the 600000000000 th time and you'd think, sod this i'm giving up. at least when you're trying to be cutting edge or upfront theres a seriously exciting driving force behind what you do????
