Sorry the way I just posted requires 2 proggies :( Should have read your post properly.
Re. getting files off an IPod, I have done this myself by plugging the IPod into a PC that does NOT have iTunes or the Ipod software, then the IPod will show up as an ordinary USB disk. You can then navigate the folders on the IPod as if it were an ordinary disk. A bit painstaking, and I'm sure there's a better way but that worked for me.
