Hardcore kicks in hardstyle.

Sometimes I love them, sometimes, I really dont. U know, when the break comes and then bam in with a gabba kick.. They've made it sooo difficult to play tracks in the uk that I've actually made my own edits and played them off CD. I think if you're at a party in Holland they totally make sense (especailly cause Holland really understands that wicked gabba kik), but you put yourself in a UK club environment and they just don't work unless done really cleverly..... It's actually imho what is keeping hardstyle from becoming massive in the UK...

What does everyone else reckon? Really would love to know what you think, especially how you think the sound could be improved :)

It's a strange one, yes it sometimes works and it sounds good but I think it's kinda taken Hardstyle's originality away a bit. Some people love them and some don't, i'm not really sure yet about a lot of tracks. :briggin:

It's about getting the balance right with the basslines etc, having the classic Hardstyle sound and the newer style beats. :-)

no i didn't actually! i started cause i was fed up of being the only one who'd come on at hardcore events and the records would jump and the vol level would be reduced (all the hardcore guys have played cd's for years)... it's alot easier to play cd's on big stages and you know the way i like to bounce hehehe.

recently i've really got into the mastering side too, increasing the top end and bringing the right frequencies out. i think it's importannt to present your sound the best way possible and unless everyone is playing vinyl, you're at a total disadvantage at the big events.

Its the gabba kicks in hardstyle which make me like it along with the italian type energetic bass line. I have gone right off alot of hardstyle since they have stopped usin the gabba kick so much. Seems to fairy without it!!

i think that the gabba kik is 2 crazy but does sound good wen dun properly.showtek 4 instance.a bit less distortion and it frees up the trak 4 more nicer and more melodic riffs which is catchn on in uk.i find their kiks aint as bazzy. 4 it to get massive ova here we need more producers thers a few but they not as hard as hld and ger they produce uk hardtrance wiv a hardstyle twist as 4 the big hardstyle djs ova here they all play dutch and ger tunes says it all really. and the fact that every1 luvs the tidy stuff which is no were near as hard apart 4 tm4hg cds of course .imho

I love gabba I really do and have done since I started raving in 1993. The mokum records were excellent. But with hardstyle I prefer the more puncy kick than the gabba pounding and banging kick. But thats just me.

I love the occasional gabba kick in a tune-especially in a rave /club.As long as it doesnt go on for too long and the return works well.

awww jesus ye i agree,to long brakes in hardstyle puts me right off.
Its defo a ball ache question this one.at the mo its 50/50 as sum tunes are spot on aka Zany as mention b4.

Finding the right level i guess is the mission at hand,what works in the UK...its another trial and error game.

Ive herd a few hardstyle tunes witht he hardcore influence and though HOLLY SHIT lets AVVViiiTT haha,and others are just sound anoying.

examples i guess would help this topic along.
