    Default hardstyle(bye bye)

It seems to me that hardstyle really is on its way, down here in plymouth hardstyle is starting to recieve a really negative attitude,I cant see this sound staying around for much longer. I know its been said before but I just wanted to voice my opinion.

mate, i know exactly what your saying. i think it all sounds the same and formulated already. respect for having the bollocks for starting this thread! hardstyle in the south west is not happening to be honest. as a resident at a few events in the south west i must say people are not up for the hardstyle sound, with people just wanting to hear hardtrance. i have noticed a lot of DJ's throwing techno into their sets and it going down well...but hardstyle...no no. to be honest i really wish it would go away asap! dont shoot me for that people, its just my opinion.

I agree with that totally! I'm not trying to be negative but it will only improve the hard trance scene and get more fresh tracks out there, I for one can't wait to here some new hard trance old style (if you get what i mean?!)

i think there's plenty more to come yet!
maybe we shall start to see a drift back to the trancier stuff but i hope that it stays dark and harder rather then cheese fest uplifting ahaaaaaah lalala rubbish that was hard trance.
ya cant beat a bit of melody and hardstyle has gone a bit hard housey recently, which is why the trancier folks arent into it as much maybe?

It's just getting going in Leeds, Manchester,Birmingham and from what Mixslag says Cardiff too, also if you look at the Tidy weekender it only just reaching the mainsteam It's only reaching public awareness at the moment and from what I know is hardly played in enough clubs to warrant such a statement.

Can't judge it by just Plymouth. Perhaps the DJ's are caning the wrong hardstyle? Are there too many hardstyle nights? From what I've been told the scene down there is more of a trance scene leaning on the euphoric side which the majority of hardstyle lacks.

From what I've been reading on this board seem like a lot of people are against hardstyle even those who calim they like it With posts like "what is the future of hardstyle" etc which to me is not really the most positive discussion especially for a realtively new scene within the UK.

Also some hardstyle tunes are slated ie people saying cheesy and WTF is going on!!! etc as if one tune means a shift in the entire genre which will lead to it's demise. With a scene so big there's bound to be lots of shite. Don't moan about shite tunes just don't buy em.

Every month I hear full sets of awesome hardstyle and then get to witness the crowd reaction to the tunes.

What I say is give it a chance.

well produced, changing-tempo, rhythmic hardstyle is still my favourite genre of music. there is less and less good stuff being released but i tend to chop it up with older 'classic' hardstyle tracks and some techno.

what has happened to give to you to that impression? Did one set go down badly? low turnout to a hardstyle night? bad reaction to a tune?

Im actually quite amazed people are distancing themselfs from it already tbh... i agree its a bit stale at the moment, but that happens with everything. Quite a strong believer in sticking by ur scene and doing watever u can too just get thru the cack stages. But thats easier for me too say as i play a right across the boards in trance and techno, so generally one is doin bad i just get more of the other.

But just give it time, its a cack time of year aswell, pretty sure once the new year comes, and all the producers will come bk wi summit fresh.

well about a year ago it flooded the local record shops and a few local nights in plymouth, and as it got so big so quickly, people have allready lost interest, its very similiar sounding i think lost its way. I much prefer my trance and hard trance now as you can lift and breakdown a set, with hardstyle your just banging all the way through. In my short experience i know people want to here a bit of constructivness from the dj not just a heavy kick all the way through. Theres a certain promoter who hates it in plymouth so it unlikely its going to filter into the biggest club in down here.ssh ssh.

But 'the certain promoter' still books M Zone. It's the same 'certain promoter' who entered me into the dj competition last year and then asked me to tone my style down. I'm betting it's also the reason why said club is getting a drastic downturn in customers. I don't think it's that the people don't like hardstyle - they do, just that one promoter doesn't like it, so denies his crowd it.

Personally I don't see that hardstyle is getting a bad rep down here. I don't frequent any of the record stores anymore to be fair, so I may be ignorant to it but as far as I can see, all dance music is getting a gradual decline in interest down here - no other style is really prevelant is it?

When it comes down to it, it doesn't really concern me that much anyway because I believe that a Dj can only truly be great whilst playing the music they love. I love hardstyle, and i'll play it as long as I do. Even if no-one else likes it or has a bad attitude towards it i'll still play it.

If anyone says too me they hate hardstyle and start slagging it off. I give them the big middle finger.

I cant stand it when promoters try too tell u wat too play... in the end it just makes u more determined too go against wat he has said.

We are not sheep... and i think we have all came too this forum because we are stronger minded and have more passion for wat we believe in.

I see both sides of this argument.

I think the main reason that there is alot of shit out there is because of the fact that most (if not all) on the tunes we are playing are Europian produced and to be fair their standards aren't as high as the UK's.

I play a bit in Switerzland and Itlay and the standards are lower including technical ability and music production. The UK has the highest standards in the world so its easy for us to take the piss.

As I'm sure we all know there are some quality trax out there you just gotta find em.

Also I think to much of any one style of music does get boring and will have its day. Building sets with both Hardstyle and Hard Trance works for me at the moment and the crowd it seems. But I would be surprised if I will playing these types of music in say 4 or 5 years time.

I find it hard to stay true to myself when a promoter is blantantly wanting me to tone my style down.
