Default using a phone as a mic

    could it be possible?

is there a way to send the audio from a home phone to my soundcard for example?

or do you guys know any alternatives? ( besides computer-based vocoder and 3grans rackmount vocoder.

    the real vintage thing

if there's answering machines.. there's an audio out i guess

I would just record using a decent mic, and then cut the freq's to match a phone and possibly lower the bit rate for grittyness.

Vocoder won`t do you much good.

The frequency range of phones is (well, used to be, mobliles are a bit better these days) 300Hz to 3kHz
Filter everything above and below to recreate the effect.
And as above, maybe reduce the bit rate with a bit crusher, or use a Fuzz effect for crap speaker grit.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

if you use Fruity Studio, good old Fruity Parametic Eq. "Phone" setting. Bit of bitcrushing, not perfect but its a good start, and i just checked it out quick to test it never used it before

yeah, your best bet is to use eq the vocals and cut the frequencies........like scott said there's a phone preset in FL that works.

You can buy a telephone pickup from Maplin for around £4.
