"Its our 10th anniversary and not many party crews can say they’ve reached the ripe old age of ten! And what do you do when its your birthday? Throw a big party of course…but in this case it’s gonna be the phatest party with the biggest line up The Rippers have ever seen!!!
From our humble beginnings at Club19 by the M32 and Jo-Jo’s in Stroud, to the legendary Rummer Basement, The Thekla, The Depot (where Ripsnorter really made its name), to The Black Swan, SK8 ‘n’ Ride, Trinity and now The Blue Mountain…we’ve always sought venues that were unfamiliar to our crowd. It’s taken a lot of extra work but it’s paid off. Taking The Rippers on the road around the UK, Magical Mystery Tours, the infamous Boat Parties and annual appearances at Ashton Court have taken the Ripper vibe to new audiences.
Musically we’ve always tried to stay fresh and cutting edge, avoiding relying on the ‘big names’ to pull crowds, we’ve always put maximum effort into production, building a solid reputation as a guaranteed full-on night out. DAVE The Drummer, Steve Hill, Superfast Oz, Andy Farley, Pete Wardman, Dave Randall, Madam Friction, Ben Eye, Mark EG, Nuw Idol, Charalambou, Weirdo, KGB, Beamish, Madam Zu, Steve Thomas (under the pseudonym Janet Fruitloop!), X-Cite & X-Cess, Ziad, The Disco Brothers, Billy Bunter, Choci, Chris Liberator, Rubec, Mark Tyler, Chuck-E, DFQ, Karim, Chris C, James Lawson, Simon Eve, Oberon, Abyss, Darren Shambhala, Nick Sentience, Glenn Miller, Sol Ray, Jo Shiva and lots more…all played @ Ripsnorter - many before they became nationally known acts. And we gave Radio1 boy Kutski his first ever residency!
Booked and confirmed are 20 performers including 4 live acts & 6 international DJs!! Massive laser-lightshow, pyrotechnics, inflatables, tailor-made Tufty-Angel & Ripper UV environments, shamanic dancers, Haggler’s Corner (legal highs, UV & jewellery), UV body art, extra TurboSound sound system augmenting the club’s awesome Void rig...and the whole venue will be spiritually cleansed and crystal gridded for that special Ripsnorter vibe.
To mark this special occasion we had to choose a venue with enough rooms to accommodate Ripsnorter’s varied musical styles. Over the years we’ve encompassed hard-house, acid-techno, NRG, chill-out, breakbeat, psychedelic dub, tech & progressive house, reggae, Nu-Nrg, hard-style & hard-trance, techno-trance, psy-trance, acid-trance and uplifting trance!! Times change, genres come and go and for our 10th Birthday we’ve chosen that Bristol clubbing instituition LAKOTA because we can utilise its three main rooms; Breaksnorter on the top floor, techno in the back room and our trademark techno-trance/NRG in the main room. And you'll be greeted by our very own chummy & relaxed Ripsnorter security when you arrive."
