Best of "Free plugins" in categories thread?

I will try and make a list for people starting out etc. with free plugins,
that are regarded as very good by many. I think 5-10 each in no particular order but in categories like compressor etc. should be enough. Would this be helpful?

What would you guys recommend as a good realtime filter for adding a bit interest to things like synth parts?

I have been using the cubase step filter, but it I dont think its very good.

The Digitalfishphones plugins should defintely be there.

Blockfish is one of the best compressors out there, regardless of free or pay

Definately a good idea this. That list of free plugins is cool, but it's getting a little out of hand to say the least. Thanks for showing some initiative again Loopdon ;)
