    Cheers for the reply Mark :;

    Must agree totally with u there Tony! The variety in the sound "back then" is what gets me. U very rarely got 2 records that sounded the same. The kicks, drums, melodies all had there "own" sound.
    Whereas now, with all the technology etc blah blah, it all sounds like every producer has the same hymn book and can never think about changing. Just churning out stuff that sounds very much the same time after time.

    Why it is? i dont know. The same producers are still here, but look at what some of them produce now!!! Look at Gollum & Gary D for instance, i mean WTF!! From the stuff they make now u wonder how they managed to produce so many classics!

    Anyroads, i'm going to bed now to cry myself to sleep! Long live the Old Skool sound!! :cheese:

    p.s. Mark! if u need a hand to pick out some tunes for a mix, give me a shout and i will gladly look through ur collection for ya :cheese: :;

    cheers for reply mark. I break 'old skool trance' into three parts really. 93-96, 97-99 then 2000-2003. Think the age you are depends on what your version of old skool is. I got into hard trance when I heard marks dreamscape 21 set in my first tape pack I bought in early 96 so 93-96 will always be my version of old skool trance.
    something for your mind.........

    Again nice one for the reply Mark, and look forward to the mix. Some good points made in this thread. Fully agree with matt when he puts it into parts. Im into the newer old skool sound starting from 98/99-2003/4

    I am 28 and so just about remember the "good old days" of hard trance :), oh how much have i spent on driving to clubs in obscure locations, vinyl and tape packs etc... who cares, no other music comes close to what i call proper hard trance!!!!! - I used to travel the country looking for Mark Eg, M-zone, Ribbz, 3dom, Dolphin, fergus, Sharkey etc. One of the best nights of techno I ever saw was when Mark EG played some small club in penzance (in teh middle of nowhere really!). Just an excellent night, about a two and a half hour set from him, no MC, just the music and him going nuts!! Just glad I was able to hear so witness so many classic sets and am now glad PCs make it easy for us to share the music...
