exactly. I live in HK and i can say that China is a very late bloomer when it comes to techno. Even in HK do you rarely see techno shows. The city went through a whole cheezy trance stage in the 90's, partially because of British colonial influence, but now it has gone all house.

You MAY get a techno show here once a year, but only that is because Technasia is playing. Thats pretty much about it.....

Sad to say, even Singapore has a healthier music scene than over here.

Well, I'm considering moving out to HK in the next few years, so we'll have to see what we can do about that.

    where? in hong kong? shanghai?

i would advise if it's in mainland china (not hong kong) to be careful about doing all business by the book. have heard some stories of bureaucratic nightmares.

I played in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing 3 years ago, pretty crazy trip, but well worth the experience
totally different from Japan (which has a very established club culture)
Hong Kong is also special due to its past...different from the mainland
