when i saw the formation i knew we would struggle, Sir f**ked up, he should have switched to 4-4-2 as soon as it became clear both teams were cancelling eachother out, which was like, two mins after kick-off...

what a let-down, the game was fairly s**t, good goal to win it...

    ABU's f**k off...

I went and i have to say the game was awful.

Wembley though is summin else. ****in huge. Even my bro in law who has played in alot of the big national stadiums couldnt believe how big the place is.

Have to say tho, that where it is so big, it seems lose the atmosphere.

Was a shite day all round other than the stadium itself

Obviously difficult to judge as not being there myself but i think if there was true Utd supporters there yesterday instead of the 'Prawn Sandwich Brigade' or an England game with proper English fans you would maybe see and feel a good atmosphere. We will see in time - England v Brazil is only 12 days away! Bring back Becks- he is having a blinder again tonight for Real!!!

Gazza played for England when he was playing in the Mickey Mouse Scottish league so can't see the problem. His crossing will still be pin point whatever league he is in. He was brilliant last night, definately deserves a place it the squad and also he is fresh having not played 50 odd games like most prem players this season.

You can't just bundle the goal keeper over the line after he saved your shot fair and square! Should have been a free kick to Chelsea.

Ah, but anywhere else on the pitch it wouldn't have been a foul as he played the ball first before contact with the player, all within one motion - therefore technically its not a foul, or wouldn't be any where else on the pitch, and therefore if the ball crossed the line it should have been a goal by the letter of the laws of the game as no foul has been committed and therefore its the defensive players fault for carrying the ball over the line.

Admittedly no ref in modern football would give it as goalkeepers are so protected these days, and I'd be damn pissed off if it had been given against us, but technically, following the letter of the law, it was a goal as the tackle itself didn't constitute a foul as the ball was played first.

As no foul was awarded by the ref then clearly he believed that none had been committed and thus the goal should have stood as it crossed the line clearly.

End of the day one thing it wasn't was keepers ball/goal kick - either give the foul or award the goal - to do neither is not an option in that situation as he is saying that a) giggs didn't commit a foul and b) the ball didnt cross the line - whichever way you look at it that is incorrect.

As a Utd fan I'd obviously say that the ref was correct in that no foul was given and therefore it was a goal ;).

End of the day though such is life, and it would have been a brave ref to give it in this day and age, especially in such a high profile game, regardless of the what the actual rules of the game state.

Yeah, except you're not allowed to 'tackle' the keeper when he has the ball under control, so it was a foul!

So why wasn't a free kick given? My point remains the same - it has to be one or the other...

...and did he have it under control? He certainly didn't have two hands on the ball when Giggs' foot connected with it - so the answer to that is no he didn't when the tackle was made.

All in all never gonna be given as stuff like that happens in split seconds in a melee in the box, so you can only ever say what the precise chain of events was with slow-mo replays but, technically, it was still a goal.

It should have been a free kick of course, which is what I said in the first place. And yes he did have the ball under control, hence why he didn't spill it when he was tackled!
