Laurent Garnier can mix but really plays alot of very commercial tunes. I find his little-bit-of-something-for-everybody approach actually means 99% not for me. Super Clubs with super DJs like this man are not for me. Him and similar such as Fat Boy Slim do make alot of money from people who don't know any better while there on holiday in Ibiza. Thankfully in 15 years of clubbing I have never had to go and see this man, there has always been something far better to go to.

so I think I might miss that one. peace.

Garnier is one of the world's best (techno/house) DJs. No doubt about it.
Too bad I am not into all that "wiggle your arse" music.

Garnier is amazing, his set blew me away the last time I saw him, nothing cheesey about it...I can appreciate DJs who put time & effort into a set rather than just play banging tune after each other with no skill.

There we disagree. Never seen him live but heard a couple of his CDs "Shot in the Dark" and "Mixmag 19" but was less than impressed. I think my best mates exacts words were "turn this Ministry of Sound shite off and put on some Ray Keith or Hydraulix I'm too kaned to listen to chicks music".

Than again i think that Mauro Picotto good is far too ambient and ruins goods sets with synth sweeping tosh, even when he hammers a few good tracks out.

Everybody to their own. But then again why are we talking abiut Laurant Garnier on a Hard Techno forum? Okay he's supposedly an innovator [sic] but he's hardly hard techno.

Nope just hard techno and hard trance will be fine. However Laurent Garnier does not fit into either of these. Maybe we could have a 'Techno Lite' section for him, Mr. C, underworld and dave clark ;)

    Check out what Gnod says...
    http://www.gnod.net/music/related/Laurent+garnier.asp

There's only K&D and DJ Shadow that I rate out of any of the related artists... and they ain't techno they is trip hoppy low-fi break beat kinda stuff.

    Now look at...

lmao, you listen to London techno and you have the cheek to take the piss out of Garnier  dave the drummer, yeah he is so underground he releases on hard house labels (no offence dave) ;)

jonnyspeed - at the end of the day we like different things, but I just dont see how you can take the piss out of garnier when you listen to the most un original boring stuff there is.

cant really put picotto and garnier in the same sentance can u!!!

and its also club techno, which imo means most forms of techno, which takes in less specialist sounds and djs.

So u could say it is in the right forum!?

Hit a soft spot on the garnier John. I totally agree. Techno heads tend to put themselves a section above the rest(its in our nature) but with liking London/acid techno, there should be no quarell.

all i know is i heard laboritoire garnier a few years back and enjoyed it. then i heard a recent essential mix and thought 'he's doing his thing and you have to respect him for that'.

he's not an amazing dj imo but leave him to his thing..

have heard garnier play some marathon 8 hour sets back at club uk a few years back, He played some great music, and a real variety so fair play to him....and he played spme fairly brutal techno as well as mellower sounds.
He has also produced some fine stuff sand wether you are into the style or not I think a track like man with the red face is a such brilliantly produced record, which should be respected even if it's not your bag.
maybe he's not 'underground' enough for some people but at the end of the day he has made and plays some good music, and that's what it's all about.
