Default Should producers take a step back to proceed into the future

The first post in the new forum!

This has come to my attention because everyone keeps complaining about the lack of 'real' Hard Trance around at the moment compared to 2000-2001 including myself!

Now why don't producers take a step back in time to proceed to the future? I mean I'm not saying that music shouldn't be progressed because if it didn't we wouldn't be where we were in the scene right now. If they took a step back and there new tracks being influenced from the scene a couple years back, I think that there would be more decent hard trance around at the moment!

If the hard trance producers did this then hard style would have it's own genre instead of being a hard trance seed off, I can't sometimes tell the different between 2003 hard trance and 2003 hard style! But I do know is there's alot of difference between hard trance in 2001 and hard style in 2003!

Don't take me wrong I don't see nothing wrong with hardstyle as I respect all peoples music tastes, but I just think we need to seperate the 1 genre into 2 different ones, At the moment I think hard trance & hard style are in the same genre, I know some people will disagree but that's my opinion!

Lets hope in 2004 there will be more hard trance like 2001 where the sound was fresh and I for one loved it, I know people will disagree totally with me, But I just want to see what other people think about this :!:

    Cheers

    Steve

I don't think that stepping back is ever an option when you are trying to push music forwards.

Trying to recover that time from 2001-2002 would be impossible for hard trance because the main trademark of those tracks, the 'hennes & cold' bassline is now primarily associated with hardstyle. This is where the blurred borderline between the two genres that you speak of stems from.

The only way for hard trance is forwards - creating something new that will distinguish it from hardstyle.

surely 'real hardtrance' was from 95 to 99 when nearly all riffs were original??

I dont think trying to gain influence from 2001 (if thats what you mean) would help the sound in anyway. Everything that was introduced then, has been copied, manipulated, and taken to new extremes & places.

Trance right at this moment is far far better than in my opinion an I'm so looking forward to whats going to happen round the next cornor! Just when I think it cant get any better along comes a new label or producer who blows the hell out of everything Ive ever heard an raises the bar again.

I used to think that the old EDM etc stuff was the best there is, but listening to it these days and comparing it to where we are now it sounds quite dull to be honest. (except for the MZone tape @ helterskelter's human nature 98 ;) )

    Bring back the oldskool!

I think taking it back a few years with a few modern touches would be the best!
