Everyone likes to play tunes before anyone else does, its a great feeling but its not as good a feeling as playing a damn well good set overall.
Point is, that surely if I played a brand spanking new-pre-released track at a night and it went down brilliantly, and someone asked what its called - the person who asked for its name would have to wait until its released before being able to gain a copy? Surely? So your still going to have the exact amount of time to play it out as when you kept it secret?
So basically your not really going to loose anything by telling the name? Are you?
I still think that if you play someone elses work that you have NO RIGHT what so ever to not tell people what its called. The music is NOT your property to do that with.
I agree with Mark that one DJ doesn't make or break track, however if everyone was doing this (and you agree yourself you don't do it) then surely it would have an effect on its initial demand and exposure?
Again, I don't want any hard feelings with anyone over this... but I just don't think people have the right to do that unless its there own tunes.
Thing is I can accept that people will do this and it will not effect me in the slightest. It does make me cringe though at the thought that there are DJ's out there somewhere (obviously not suggesting anyone here is) who are blagging promo's and then abusing them for personal gain. A producers pre-release nightmare.
