Default MACKIE 1604 GAIN KNOB DIED!!!!

    WTF??

I practically just bought this and already I have a gain knob that has just gone dead........

Luckily I have plenty of spare channels...

But still.... I have heard of this problem happening to several people with Mackies.... Furnee and Philth to name a few....

Is this a common problem for mackies????

It's annoying as hell because I have a very busy schedule and don't enjoy the hour drive to that music shop to deal with all those stupid f*kkin pot-heads who will prolly make my mixer worse....

Ive never seen any problems with the higher end digital desks,(like the DB8), but with the a couple of 8 buses ive seen pots go, channles not working, and crakles all over them.

if you just bought the mackie, call their tech support. they're pretty nice.

Ya.. suddenly my 24 channel mackie has several misfunctioning gains. Its a bitch, but nothing a visit to the authorized service rep would not clear up. (2 mins from my studio) Mind you my mixer is 6+ years old.. I guess its expected..

do you have a 24-4 or 24-8? if you got a 24-8, unscrew the bottom and look if the cables are still in-place - they tend to loosen from time to time.
