if you want a short cut try sampling a clean bit of audio from your fav tune and run it through cubase to create a groove quantise you can use.
dont know if this will be of any use,but i asked the same question a few months back.

i would try playing with the quantise on your percs/hats also velocity too.

use a noise generator... u can come up with lovely hi hats with those bad boys..
i especially like Massive because you can easilty assign a 1/16 step seq/performer to it..
i apply some delays (sometimes 2 or more different delays) and limiter or compressor
