I think the booth should be screened off entirely.
Who wants to look at fecking DJ`s?
Why not have nude dancers or a film, or a boxing match?
Or even employ a band to mime to the music.
    Now that would be great.
These ridiculous rock and roll fakery`s just come across as total ego, "look at me" type stuff.
I can`t stand it, I`d rather see Take That, at least they can dance.

But yes, you are right, I am a grumpy bugger now and again.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

why not just send the promoter a cd and have him play your mix instead of you actually being there....

haha I was joking about screening off the DJ you fool.

My point is really that the whole ****ing world is so driven by image and the external, material things, dance music, and in particular Techno, always seemed to avoid this.
The music was paramount. Nothing else mattered. 100% sound oriented music. Rather than being ego centric, the music was at the centre, not so much the person.
Once the pop, dancing monkey, mentality that taints everything else comes into it, I think it takes something away, for me.
I also see a lot of showboating as purely "look at me, please love me!!" behaviour. It seems desperate somehow.
Sure it`s nice to see the musician enjoying and immersing themselves in their music.
But there is performance, and there is Act.
I don`t like seeing an "Act".

Horses for courses though, we are a woefully visually driven society.

I do love the old brixton releases though. Some of them were very dark and powerful.

Isn't that what being a performer is really about Steve? Not simply being a DJ or performer, but also trying to be something visual for them to look at while all this is going down. If it's fun to watch and rocks the floor, then people will just like it that much more. It's really not about Ego, it's about giving the people what they want.

In fact listening to this right now, just like the good old acid of back in the day. I will say for sure, he's a man of his craft. Jacking, Acidic, oldschool vibe, and shit just meant purely for the dancefloor.

Thanks for sharing. I'm stoked to be able to listen.

Well, not for me. I do admittedly come from the free party scene, and there it wasn`t important who was playing. What was important was the the music was stunning. We have light shows and projections for the visual elements.

I think Chris Liberator and The Geezer probably sum it up for me

Although apologies to brixton for hijacking this thread into a philosophical ramble about the nature of dance music performance.

That PA he linked up is great!!
