    Default Akai Drum pad thingies.

    I am about to instruct my GF on what to buy me for christmas.

    I cant believe how cheap this is.

    I take it the pad build is as good as on the mpc range.

    Yup. Need to attach it to something solid to get the best performance out of the pads though; a proper MPC acts like a big paperweight.

    In other words, an MPD16 is too light to hit properly (probably same with the 24). Best performance when glued/taped/velcroed to something.

    I had this problem too...

    The things are quite useless, I ended up using mine as a mute/unmute interface for ableton, then sold it cus it was easier to use the F keys on the laptop. lol

    Using pads for drumming is no better than using a decent keyboard, infact I prefer a keyboard because they are way more responsive to velocity and have way more keys ;)
