Default Bleep 156: Dj Dro San

    Bleep 157
    Aired: April 16th, 2009
Mixed by: Dj Dro San (Portugal)

The last few mixes from Dro San have been mixes that were recorded live at parties. This one here is home recorded. He's also put together another mix containing stuff from a much earlier and personally influential period. But that will be his next show in a few weeks.

Bleep's goal is to bring quality dance-floor music, music without it's head up it's arse, to areas where it's seemingly lacking. Stale music has taken over and needs to move over. Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Techno is the label that Bleep assumes, but it's the Techno label of days gone by...with a sense of humour.

    Default Bleep 157: Trevor Wilkes

    Bleep 157
    Aired: April 23rd, 2009
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes (Hamilton, ON)

A few months ago I was approached by a fellow by the name of Matt Ford. He asked me to play for him in Second Life, in his virtual club. The idea seemed strange to me, but if there's an audience I'll go play the music. Aside from the Avatar aspect of it, it's just like doing a live stream for Bleep. I connected to their streaming server and played music. For 3 hours!

Today's Bleep show is the first hour of that set. It's not the actual live recording as both of my sound-cards were busy running other things, but the tracklist was written down as I went and I tossed 'er together again the next day.

The next time I do one of those Second Life shows for Matt %28and Eliza!%29 I'll be sure to mention it before hand. Just in case any of you are interested in checking it out.

    Bleep 160
    Aired: May 14th, 2009
    Mixed by: Luke's Anger (UK)

As late as yesterday I firmly believed that this week's Bleep Radio would be an Acid mix that I recorded for someone, who recently made the request. However, when a past Bleep guest sends in a new mix, it gets priority and bumps my butt further down the queue.

I present to you a mix Luke's Anger has put together. He calls it the 'Midday Rave'. It's one of those things that just happen once the weather gets warmer.

Luke's Anger runs Bonus Round Records

    Track-list:
    3d!t - bleep radio intro
men without hats - the safety dance
    datashat - stop the message
ninja nuns from outta bass - kids on bass

    Bleep 161
    Aired: May 21st, 2009
Mixed by: bill Youngman & Tobias Schmidt

A few of you may have noticed that I did not post this week's show this morning at it's usual time. Nor did I air it on livesets.com at the scheduled 11th hour (EST). I have an excuse for the tardy Bleep. My Daughter was born today. +1 to the Murky crew.

This week's Bleep is a recent live-set that Bill Youngman recorded. It was a set that him and Tobias Schmidt played together last month. Good quality recording and good tunes from two good guys. Consider it passed on in the form of a Bleep Radio show. Enjoy!

A few months ago Marcin decided to get in touch with me about music and the site. It turns out that we share tastes, not a perfect alignment, but then that would be boring wouldn't it? The only thing I really have to offer people whose taste in music I enjoy is a Bleep Radio spot. He was obviously down with it...

This set was actually recorded three weeks ago and I had planned on using it straight away. However, when a guest mix arrives it always gets priority. For three weeks now priority has been given to Luke's Anger, Bill Youngman Tobias Schmidt and Marcin Markowski. Now it's finally time to air the Acid House.

This was recorded at the request of Toronto's Malcolm S.. If you dig it, thank him.

Another week giving it a go with the boom, bang crash. I didn't realize it had been so long since I touched a lot of this stuff. Or, really hadn't given it any play time yet. I'm stumbling across records that I got in and barely touched as I was playing other things at the time. I guess it's their turn finally...

Today we have a mix here from Nick Gryskiewicz who hails from Minneapolis right now. 'Nick G' as I think he prefers to go by when the music is involved has been enjoying being a student of Techno for abouta decade in the Wisconsin and Twin City area. But, as we all know...all the silly bio details mean next to nothing. Either the music is enjoyable or it's not.

I enjoyed this. I hope you do to.

Dimitry and I first spoke back in December of 2008. The intervening time between then and now was busy for Dimitry, but he's got a set for Bleep hashed out for us to enjoy as well as what was keeping him busy. His chiptune net-label and the group of Barcelona based rave improvisational analog machine junkies.

Aside from one or two track marriages which didn't go as smoothly as they were intended this week's Bleep worked out pretty well. In a way it was influenced by the Neil Landstrumm EP that contains the tracks that bookend the set. I had listened to that record a few times while throwing the kid around for the dog to fetch and dug out a few other things I felt went with it that were close at hand. Right now, close at hand means it's relatively new or has been posted on FitM recently, so it's a good mix-up.

    00 - 3d!t "Bleep Radio Intro"

Bleep's goal is to bring quality dance-floor music, music without it's head up it's arse, to areas where it's seemingly lacking. Stale music has taken over and needs to move over. Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Techno is the label that Bleep assumes, but it's the Techno label of days gone by...with a sense of humour.

Everyone is highly encouraged to ask questions or comment about Bleep mixes. All questions will be answered. Help will be given. Direction will be shown.

I usually have Bleep posted much earlier in the day. After 5pm is at least 7 hours behind the normal schedule. Work got in the way this week though. No big deal of course as the archive is the necessary bit and as long as it's posted we're all good. Bleep Bleep.

Yesterday I was rooting around in the backseat of my car to find a CD and stumbled across an old burnt copy of Bleep Radio #1. Time does fly doesn't it? 172 sets later and Bleep is still going strong. Wavering only periodically and never very seriously. I seemingly still have plenty in me to share.

A mixed up bit of House and a fun variety of Techno of various shades to while away your Thursday afternoon. I was actually going to keep it a little lighter and more 'sitting on the porch in the sun', but it turned a little darker at some point.

Last Sunday I mentioned that I was going to be participating once again in a Second Life event at a place called 'The Drome'. It all went smoothly of course and this time around I had enough wits about me to make sure the show was recorded. This week's Bleep Radio is that recording. 2 hours and 32 Minutes in total makes it a heavy download, but a good listen.
