anyone else into these guys? classic ****ing punk rock
was just listening to "new day rising" last night and thinking..."sh*t this is one mutherf***ing kickass f***ing album!"
bob mould's first solo album, "workbook" is fantastic.
I'm a huge Husker Du/Bob Mould/Sugar fan. New Day Rising and Warehouse Songs and Stories were both formative albums in my tastes now. Sugar's Copper Blue album and their Beaster e.p. are on permanent rotation in my mp3 player. I got to see Bob Mould play an acoustic set in Philly for the Black Sheets of Rain tour in 1990. It was in a small venue that doesn't hold more than 100 people. It was killer.
He released an album with a guy named Richard Morel under the name Blowoff in 2006. He released a solo album this year named District Line. I'm checking it out now.
You burned it, you donkey!
It's really good. He has discovered electronica without cheesing out. It's not all electronic by any means. I have just noticed that he's no longer afraid of using a synth and a vocoder prominently. Nice musical progression while retaining the heart and feel of his unique sound.
That side project named Blowoff is electronic too. More like Bob Mould sings Postal Service style tracks. Good stuff if you can find it.
You burned it, you donkey!
The Act We Act, just listening to this now.
upsets me listening to it, borught back some memories
Listening to Helpless for the first time in too long.
just remembed why i loved this album at the time, album to listen to on your own i think.
fair play, special to me this album. still sounds great.
liked them better when they were hardcore punk than the watered down stuff they did later on.
can't remember the name of it, but the album with the dead bodies coming back from war on the cover on alternative tentacles was my favourite.....
Check out the Loudbomb album "Long Playing Grooves", Mould goes House, its amazing, i also like Modulate and the hubcap record. As far as songs go nothing will ever beat Workbook, its just perfect.
Totally dude. Just found out about that loudbomb release. Workbook is awesome with the first Sugar album right behind it.
You burned it, you donkey!
i think they peaked with zen arcade and new day rising, though i pretty much like everything.
Quality work imo. Copper blue was a ****ing masterstroke, super serious but super saccharine - a deft covert tactic !
Hoover dam, lol, never have I heard such an upbeat song about throwing yourself to your death - very good.
Don't get me started on 'helpless' - it's almost the perfect song :-S
I whip on horses at the rock jam sessions. I'm a rockstar.
