    Default Quad Core Madness

Just ordered my new Studio Machine.
AMD Quad Core Phenom 9500 with 4GBof 800mhz Ram.
Got it at an absolutely stupid price too.
Now I just need a jack plug to wire it into my brain

    I got it with a
nVidia 8500GT 1024MB With 16 Stream Processors card
That`ll do me for my nice big monitor. I never play games.

Haven't played with any of the AMD quads. But, despite all the noise about which is better, I doubt it's noticable from a human perspective. You're going to love it. The amount of VST/DX stuff you can all run at once without track freezing is just awesome. Since I got mine, I've not once had to freeze a track and, even with all the shit I'd been running, never bumped max CPU usage above 25%. Additionally, when rendering video down to Divx, I can set it at the "extreme" setting for highest quality with max compression, and the rendering time comes out to be the same as the footage time. It's ****ing great. On a side issue, if you haven't gone with a 64 bit OS yet, you've got about half a gig of RAM you won't be using. Good thing is you'll likely never notice that for awhile. I've still got hardware that doesn't have stable 64 bit drivers so, while having XP Pro 64, I still use XP home more than anything. Do you have Vista?
