yeah, they def run a very tight ship. when i order from them in the states i usually get my shipment within a week's time.

they've never bungled an order of mine either. they did mess up a friend's order once though, but corrected it asap.

a top company. usually worth my extra to cash to order out of country from them.

juno is sound, super professional, almost a shame they are so successful as they have such a big slice of the market but its hardly a real complaint is it?

definitely my first choice since the demise of tune inn especially

I just accuired 800 records from their ex stock. Mostly house, if anyone's interested it'll be selling them for 50pence each.

    cheers! PMs innit.

no. Since when was being successful and efficient something to be lamented? You spent too much time in LS6.

spent too much time appreciating local record shops run by friends, you mean?

Not many of those around any more, are there?

Juno is great, as I've said already, and they deserve their success. Does that mean I can't appreciate some of the quirky little shops, with individual characters and stock, that sometimes cling to life when they're not being squeezed out of the market?

Personally i think there are some things in life which aren't compatible with your sweeping free market ideals, but are worth savouring. Small local record shops being a prime example.

i used to order from lots of different shops abroad but since i found juno, i've never looked back. they have a great '8 week' feature, which i just love - perfect for me as i love getting a completely new record box every 2 months. i've had tonnes of packages from them now. records come within 2 days max. PERFECT.

Theyre being squeezed out of the market because theyre inefficient and slow to respond. Only bad shops are squeezed out of the marjket, or at least ones with a lousy strategy. The Good ones stay open. Tribe Records success was because of Simon ( I think that's his name) He went to nights like cabbage and Riff raff even tho he doesn't dig the music and researched the markets and always had a stock in of stuff that I would buy. He knew his stock like the back of hand and always put the right stuff in front of me. Unlike that other excuse for a record shop in leeds where the guy couldn't be arsed to say hello, didn't know your name, couldn't be arsed ordering in stuff you like to buy and wasn't set up to take switch cards. Lousy website too. He also insisted blasting out tunes while you were trying to listen to stuff on headphones which were usually broken. No surprises he packed up. Good riddance to it.

HE was full of bullshit excuses too about how the market was dying. He even came crying on here. I think that's a bunch of crap. Know your customers, know your market locally and adapt. He wanted to remain specialist long after the orbit crowd had buggered off and sneered at me when I asked him to stock infectious ditro stuff. If he wants to turn down my money then he's a chump.

There will always be a market for record boutiques in cities. the ones who go under probably deserve to.

The web market is different as its mail order and something where slowness and fck ups are just not tolerated. Having one online that gets you what you want when you want it is something to be celebrated and who cares if it does well. If it starts getting sloppy then thats just an opportunity for someone else in the market who can get shit right.

Banging tunes does pretty well just on vinyl alone because of a well deserved reputation and the fact he has that forum to have his market research on his doorstep and keeps his customers checking the site often.

Slackers be damned. The market will provide. Survival of the fittest ensures we get the best stuff for the best price.

I agree with your ethos that you should support your local record shop but if it aint any good, you aint gonna buy sht records just to keep him in business are you?

    Blimey.

Blah blah market forces whatever. Sure you're right, but - sometimes, it's a shame. None of that makes me remotely change my opinion. Keep your free market tosh and stick it up your arse ;)

And anyway. Who are you talking about in Leeds?

I've had stuff arrive in less than 24 hours from Juno.

Can't fault anything. Good customer service. They deserve their success.
