    Smile Roland MC-202 Acid synth?

Just a quick geeky question -

I'm looking for some tunes which use the classic 'Roland mc-202' analogue synth.

I'm sure that this ace instrument has been used loads on acid techno vinyls over the yeas, does anyone know of any examples?

I've heard rumors that 'Josh Wink's - higher state of consciensous' was done on an mc-202? Interesting, as I always figured that it was a definitive 303 tune, but apparently not.....

I've just brought one of these synths, and I'd like to hear what other people have done with it. It should keep me busy while I wait for it to be delivered

    cheers.........:-)

The Mc202 is basically an SH101 synth with a 2 track step sequencer.

Its a bit of a pig to program the sequencer and its not midi, but synth wise, its a cool, true analog instrument.

Higher State is indeed a 303. I don't know why or how this 202 rumor started. Some people also claim that Jeff Mills' Sea Wolf record is a 202 as well. It isn't. A lot of Paul Birken's older Communique records are 202.

Got mine yesterday, and it IS a bitch to program! In fact it's virtualy impossible to program what you want in to it, but the random acid sounds which it makes MORE than make up for its programing limitations. With a little moding and a midi retrofit, it will be a fearsome machine!

I always laugh when people say that the 303's sequencer is the most impossible sequencer to program. That's how you can tell they've never actually owned a 303 or a 202. The 202's sequencer is just as obtuse as can be. The 202's sequencer is to sequencers as the DX7 is to synthesis.
