At what point do they start talking about vinyl?? :lol:
Bás Ar An Impireacht
interesting.. although, really shit interviewer hahaha
he makes alot of very valid points in part 1...
Agreed, he does. But its just the way things are going. I don't think vinyl will completely die. I just think we may go through a recession (spelling?).
Bás Ar An Impireacht
Digital for the masses. Short vinyl run for the enthusiasts. Job done.
How many times can you guys have the same convo? :)
Half of the reason I posted the link was to show my new signature. I am definitely trying to keep the vinyl thing alive...

It actualy quite good ...
Its not like he just goes on a random rant about "the death of vinyl"
for the full interveiw...
Some of the things he says make perfect sense.
Who cares
Bring on the death of vinyl
It's **** all to do with the format anyway

I think he's just trying to justify moving to laptop only.
We've got vinyl pressed this year, probably a few to many copies for our own good, but meh.
Vinyl will always beat digital hands down for these reasons and probably more;
* It's far more hands on, if the DJ wants to do any crazyness like offset timing, pitch bending leadlines or reverse.
* It doesn't crash.
* It actually takes some skill to beat match tracks together.
* Cutting, scratching, part drop or sample drop has no latency.
* Pitching is analog, rather than a sample-hold algorithm with dodgey filtering.
* Frequency response is far superior than the ****ing awful audio chipsets they put onboard laptops.
* Electronic noise floor is near nothing.
Obvious disadvantages are the needle bouncing/skating from a lively crowd and twats coming up to you and requesting Wigfield - Saturday Night. But still more amusing that looking like a lemon with a rebooting laptop.
Just my honest opinion :)
Now I need to get my decks fixed, anyone know where I can buy a cheap Technics armature?
