SPDIF/Digital Input options for a Powerbook?

I've got quite an old powerbook (1Ghz) and want to use it soley for some extra studio power, specifically a recording workstation.

Thing is, they didnt introduce optical inputs until 1.67Ghz. What's the cheapest solution anyone knows of to get 24bit digital audio into this blessed thing? I don't need an all singing card, just a nice, simple solution that doesnt compromise sound quality..

Thats it for around 40-50 quid.

you'll be able to find em cheaper second hand on ebay.
