I thoughts there were laws against this sorta thing? Although if its freely on the web and shit then the artists can't then complain can he.

I thought it was nice, say for example Glenn posting links to his new tracks off the Nightshift Album but is it therefore ok for me to record to CD and play out?

I don't know if it's cool or not... The tracks I play I ask if it's ok first or let them know afterwards and ask then ;) And me charting the tracks on CD doesn't necessarily mean I've been playing them out alot, most are obviously, but some are just tunes I like.. (e.g. Android's tunes are tasty but I can't play them out cause of the low bit rate, some of Fernando's are too low also)

And in regards to the tracks from the Nightshift album, in the original thread I put a reply saying I was going to play one of them that night and I've mentioned a few times I've played them out with no complaints.

What about friends like HPS too..? I love his tunes and they are only on CD...? I'd be happy for someone to play my stuff out and chart it (if it was worthy of doing so that is, which it isn't )

I'm sure there are lots of opinions on the subject though. ;)

i cant see the problem with playing cdr,s as long as you,ve asked permission first, at the end of the day your going to go and buy it when it comes out on vinyl anyway, but definetly always get permission first.
i've never done it myself by the way, this is just my opnion on the matter.

it is if you dont go and buy the vinyl, i agree, and im not condoning this, but if say dsp posts a full track on here and someone wants to burn it onto cd and play it out before it,s released and he,s asked permission to do this, then i dont see a problem, especially as the person likes the tune so much he is going to buy it on vinyl when it,s released anyway, or at least i hope they would.

In this case, Brian Sleiter is my friend. I am sure he'd be more than happy to have someone playing his music out and/or charting it. I think playing a track for yourself or using it yourself in your sets is much different than trading the track across the internet. Over the course of the year I've found some unreleased tracks of mine on the internet that ARE coming out soon. They'll get pirated, I know this and its something you must accept, but it sucks when it happens before its out. The fact is, one of my "friends" (dont know who) is leaking these tracks out that I give them to play. Thats definetely not cool. So you see, there's a line between playing and supporting unreleased music from CDRs, and distributing it all over the net.

Definately agreed 100% Dustin, I'd never distribute these tracks to even my friends, not to mention consider doing it on the internet!

Ouch. It isn't me for sure. I keep all your stuff in a directory that isn't even on the same drive as my shares. Unless someone hacked my box, which with my firewalls isn't likely.

    Seismic018 - Chemical Compounds 2 - \"Hive-Minded\"
