The Vitalic tune at the top of this discussion is called 'La Rock' btw!

The type of tune you never get tired of.

The Hacker-Fading Away (Dima Remix).....Deffo in the top 10 somewhere! Epic.

But still its kind of a techno/melodic electro kinda thing.

    Ah...idea for a new thread!

Yeah mate, its a classic! Awsome.

If you like this you'll probably like an album by some gezza's called 'Da Intruders' (Dry name...like mine!) but the album's called 'Leavin' this world', its on the label 'Serie'.

Its one of my favorite electro albums......quite hard to come by tho... actually ...just the shit to make your winnets stand on end...specially on a heaping system

    Its was released Feb 05...

Here are three samples of the best tracks off it-

If you like Vitalic you might like it...what you rekon?

Isn't this like, dunno, techno ?

Certainly not electro in my book.

It's like calling Beyonce R&B (which people obviously do). Is it just me or is this music actually little or no relation to actual R&B? Someone explain why this saccharine, studio sleek crap has become the same genre that was once dominated by people like Little Richard and Chuck Berry - both of whom rock like a dingy in a force 10. How does "green onions" or "jo jo gunne" relate to "bills" ? Can SOMEONE please fill in the blanks ?

Kinda the same way that this "Vitalic" business is nothing like Newcleus or Egyptian Lover (or any other ACTUAL electro ya'd care to name). I appreciate there's this 'electroclash' stuff and the like going around and the term 'electro' is used in a lot of ways these days but, um, is it too hard to come up with a new genre label (which is a hobby of some people, I believe) so that people like me don't get confused ?? I'm pretty ****ing thick like that.

I clicked on this topic expecting to find folk extolling the virtues of the Pac Jam or Chris Taylor, something like that. Perhaps posting some photos of "the roxy" back in the day. Clearly not lol. Judging from the current banter/average age on here I'm wondering if people will know what the **** I'm on about anyways (recurring theme lol)

Ya don't know where it's at till you know where it's FROM - ya know ? ;-)
I whip on horses at the rock jam sessions. I'm a rockstar.

i'm with you man... but it's a losing battle. the kids don't know who Aux 88 are, and I'm not sure they care. They hear a track with big think slabs of 80s synth and call it electro... simple as that. it's people like us who have to change our definitions unfortunately, or we'll get left behind like a bunch of grandads in an old technoheads home.

that said, it doesn't hurt to give a history lesson now and then :)

Aye, AUX 88 were not bad - still a long time after the best had already been there, done it though. I'm talkin 83-84, around that time was the cleanest, funkiest, best electro imo.

People seemed a lot happier in those days I guess, the future promised GREAT things !

the "scene" in those days was healthier too, more cosmopolitan, all ethnic groups represented and everyone just got on and partied together - for the most part. No retards like "fiddy" droppin' the N bomb all over the place... POINTLESS. NEGATIVE. IT SELLS.

Sure, there were diss tracks etc but it was all good banter - REAL. Compare that with the 'beef' some artists have nowadays, FAKE.

Progress just, well, doesn't feel like progress sometimes u know ? :-(

http://www.myspace.com/nyoil - check out the tune, "y'all should all get lynched", this guy has a point for sure.
