Want to get better at EQing and mixing?
Check out this simple training tool.

    https://sourceforge.net/dbimage.php?id=17931

It randomly plays a frequency and you have to select which frequency it is. thats it. Simple yes, but knowing frequencies immediately by ear will change your mixes and EQing so much it is incredible.

Many people simply make a very narrow boost and then sweep through the spectrum until they hear the offending frequency and then remove that when trying to get rid of bad frequencies. This method can be very helpful but it also has some serious drawbacks. First of all, the resonance created by the steep boost can be misleading and cause confusion when selecting the proper frequency. Sweeping through the frequencies also confuses your brain and ears. Simply knowing where the frequency that needs boosting or cutting is by FAR the best way to work whenever possible!
