This is a fantastic read.
Its a nightmare to know where to stop when you are producing, but the most important thing to do is to aim for a balanced mix for what you are trying to do with your particular track.
Makes such a difference to general enjoyment of production, not having to bang your head against a wall trying to get a polished, final sound. Much more satisfying to reach a natural finish point, then leave the polishing up to the mastering dude.
id like to get to a stage where I'm doing all my mastering myself- eventually! Great article!!
