So. Behind their eyes the hope in them was sickening, and in many, dead. They lived from event to event with a subtle terror of the gap between, filling up their lives with distractions to avoid the emptiness where curiosity should have been, and breathing a gasp of relief when the children passed the point of asking questions about what life was for.
This debate makes me want to knock myself on the head...

@ lag
first off.. your talking about a label that has sold huge amounts on the techno scene and has been played by everyone from the smallest dj to the biggest crowd puller, aswell as a producer that has released some very important totally original tracks (red seal stuff etc). whatever your tastes dont try to belittle something someone else has done cause nobody is sitting around slagging your stuff of.
if you want to go down the elitist route on this, can you say that every single sound you've ever made has been synthesised by you personally.. cause if you've ever used an 808 or 909 sample then you're obviously not as original as you'd like to think.
@ nuccle - we've seen all this b4 on here and the majority of us recognise whats good and whats not. keep doin what you do man, most of us love player records for exactly what it is. good party techno

theres an "artist" here called goran bregovic. plays and "composes" ethnic music. very popular. never wrote a song in his life.
for example, my teacher who was doing the sound design for a movie collected a bunch of old ethnic songs. bregovic just came by and put his name under the songs.
i know ignition didnt do anything that bad, but what ure saying is basically that just because someone/something is popular im supposed to overlook their moments of "fake"?
ah, so sound quality has everything to do with music. i see. so a kick sample is someones musical piece, a composition? i find its just a kick sample. using rythm loops, however, is already wrong (as it has a musical value). if u put ur name on a song it means u did the music stuff.if you want to go down the elitist route on this, can you say that every single sound you've ever made has been synthesised by you personally.. cause if you've ever used an 808 or 909 sample then you're obviously not as original as you'd like to think.
im not against using samples or even synths if u change them beyond recognition. it means u actually did some music work.
lifting someones main song theme, putting it as ur own song theme and calling it ur own song is beyond lame.
i mean, ud have no problem if someone took the aphex twin - on theme (the piano + pad), put a schranz loop (that uve heard in the "schranz essentials volume 3" loop pack) over it and called it his own song? its not his song, its aphex twin + a schranz loop (dj vinyl mashup [please dont sue me])

where is the post in which jon claims 'the sample' as his own?
21 minutes to know

when did it stop being fun for you? jeez, lighten up - there are well respected producers out there who are running bootleg labels on the side but nobody seems to bothered about it.theres an "artist" here called goran bregovic. plays and "composes" ethnic music. very popular. never wrote a song in his life.

music is meant to evoke feelings within you, be it happiness, saddness, anger, whatever. im pretty sure its not made to be analysed over until all the enjoyment dissappears.
just because i might personally think its shit doesnt mean it has less musical value than anything else. its not for me, you or anyone else to make that judgement. the ONLY thing we have a right to state is our own opinion based on our musical tastes.i mean, ud have no problem if someone took the aphex twin - on theme (the piano + pad), put a schranz loop (that uve heard in the "schranz essentials volume 3" loop pack) over it and called it his own song? its not his song, its aphex twin + a schranz loop (dj vinyl mashup [please dont sue me])

i dont actually get that excited about it if it says its a bootleg man.
i pretty much enjoy music man and it means very much to me. i have to over-analyse everything though because im just like that.music is meant to evoke feelings within you, be it happiness, saddness, anger, whatever. im pretty sure its not made to be analysed over until all the enjoyment dissappears.
i talked to several friends about this topic the last night. i still cant get my head around the fact that someone actually thinks that this is good and that he/she would be so infuriated by the suggestion that it isnt that he/she has to call me names and offend me. it took me completely by surprise. i still cant believe it. its getting more and more apparent why some people i really respect left this place.
im not saying ure the one of the critical ones - u have a different opinion than me and ure argumenting it politely. thats to be respected, no matter how wrong i think u are. im talking about the guys who are insulting me for calling stealing - stealing.
indeed, but no matter how much i dislike ignition technician stuff i never said anything about his music ;)just because i might personally think its shit doesnt mean it has less musical value than anything else. its not for me, you or anyone else to make that judgement. the ONLY thing we have a right to state is our own opinion based on our musical tastes.

Look lag, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion, just as others are entitled to theirs.
There is no right/wrong (within reason) there's just music and what floats others boats, won't necessarily float your's.
You talk about name calling, but may i just remind you of this.
You implied a couple of very good techno producers are 'retards' on the basis of one track you disagreed with the concept of.
You could have just said, Nah, don't like this at all, i think its cheating. But instead you chose to be offensive and thats when thing got a bit heated.
That's why i came down pretty hard on you but i'm sure you wont lose any sleep over it.
i said "like hes". how is that impliying a "he is"
if i truly thought that he is retarded enough that he couldnt play 4 tones i would have just said "look, a retardus! trying to make music! how sweet."
and even if i have insulted them (how is it "them/multiple techno producers" all of the sudden?) i havent insulted you, have i? or is he your brother/girlfriend/dad?
