Future of Hardstyle... can we help?

I know this may sound slightly arrogant, but should we all draft ideas to improve hardstyle.

I say improve, but I suppose I really mean "focus" it in the right direction. To do this we could all work together to come up with like a list of ideas or things in hardstyle which are definitley worth producers following or trying and a list of things we feel is a negative thing on hardstyle. Then we can do a report and possibly forward it as an e-mail on to all hard style labels in an attempt to give some creative and thorough feedback on what us "experts" in some respects think on hard style.

I know I've not explained this very well, but I think we could try to help elminate crap hardstyle or poor cheap productions by giving all the facts and feelings of true hardstyle fans. Perhaps this is a bad idea, dunno... what do you lot think?

I dunno man! I would personally like to see Hardstyle evolve naturally.

There is always gonna be cheesy releases as there is gonna always be cheesy producers (As with all genre's).

Ive noticed more vocal based Hardstyle emerging recently, which I quite like. I think if it's done correctly vocals in Hardstyle work really well.

One thing I would like to see more of in Hardstyle is trancy riffs, but not too trancy! (If ya get what Im saying - think 'Bad Manners' by Builder on DP)

yeah I know what you mean by evolve naturally... I was thinking that the feedback we offer could help try to reduce productions which are not pushing the genre forward or productions that are blatantly cheese.

Perhaps the problem is with this is that who are we to say what is right and wrong? - I guess a more of an opinion based report simply stating what things we would recommend be done and not done for producing a track that will be positive for hardstyle.

To be honest, I would find such a repot useful... as it to me it would basically indicate what elements are needed in a hardstyle tune to make it more original and pioneering from hardstyle forum people on Blackoutaudio.

I dunno... perhaps this is completely, wrong, but if you see that I am getting at something but it just don't feel right then tell me... then we can adapt my idea and move forward.

Think that it comes down to us to weed out the shite, ie some of those suntecs (zombi nation one for example) and start pushing fully the good and innovative producers.....

need to get away from the high pitched synths and standard sounds as they sound proper stale at the mo.

Need the kind of raw and dirty underground vibe of boss drum and Rotar that was on wicked, converse i think it was called raptor rmx.... as they imo are what hardstyle should be all about and Smashing guys - diabolika ep and stuff like that.

I think it could be a good idea.. But the problem is, that a lot of people do actually like the cheese and bad productions. Djs will continue to buy this stuff so producers will continue to produse it. :roll:

There is something vastly wrong with hardstyle at the moment. If anything it is deteriorating further - I listened to loads of new releases last night, and was appalled to find that I could pick out where each track had stolen each sample from. There was absolutely nothing original.

I agree that something should be done but I honestly don't believe that any hardstyle label is gonna take notice of feedback from a miniscule UK market. Sorry m8, but I think it's a tiny bit arrogant to think that a fanbase that make up probably 1-2% of their sales are ever gonna have any say in what makes a good release or not. The only way this idea is to work is if us British producers can see their faults and make our own hardstyle that is better for us.

Cool, glad you sort of see where I'm comming from on this. Although I agree, sales results are the only thing which force labels to "not" releasing certain tracks and probably not some report by some hard style enthusiasts in the UK.

I admit from the start that I felt my idea was a right way to possibly go, but my method is questionable. Any ideas?

the thing that t*ts me off most about hardstyle is the 'pirates' or riffs from older classic tunes!!after all it isn't happy hardcore!!!

i noticed u rote ud like to ere more trancy riffs in hardstyle but if u put trancy riffs in hardstyle it wudnt be hardstyle it wud just go back to beein hard trance,no trancy riffs is the big difference between hardstyle and hardtrance ;)

perhaps a tad controversal but i think inventing the term hardstyle was a mistake, the sound that is now branded hardstyle used to be the harder end of hard trance/tech-trance but giving it its own name has now created a genre with not a great deal of scope and the trademark elements that have now become the base of the sound are very tired.

Im not necesserily saying i think its bad music but i think people are expecting too much from it at the moment, if the sound is going to move forward i think people need to let go of the current hardstyle thing a little and let it change, ive ehard some good tracks recently that sound like there moving forward, trying something differnt i just hate hearing the ones that are moving backwards which in my ears are a lot of them.

One thing i think is that many people are rushing Hardstyle,expecting miracles all at once,people who are rushing this are running hardstyle to the ground,maybe we shud wait remember "GUD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT". I Think we will see a slight change of the hardstyle sound but for better not for worse. ;)

Beppe Barilli + Andrea Montorsi use 'Trancy riffs' but still manage to in-keep with the 'Hardstyle' sound.

I think I should of made myself clearer, Im not talking about big epic 'Scot Project' style riffs but the type that are found on a lot of Saifam labels, (DP/Titanic/Red Alert etc) hence my example in my original post! ;)

Too true, does evey hardstyle track have to follow the Guide to making Hardstyle handbook, i think not, theres a lot more that cane be done with it, i think it would be nice to have something in between the middle of hardtrance and hardstyle, or just combining the two together, Hardstyle is getting to formulatic,

Dont get me wrong im a massive fan of hardstyle,

I listen to it alot more that hardtrance, I just dont wanna see it die a slow and painfull death, i mean how long can tunes keep on getting released that nearly sound the same, Insert Reverse Bass, insert Sample, Insert Distort kick, Insert Bass

Still i love it just i dont wanna see it die
