    Default EQ's

Ave got a small problem .......
My mixin is on the verge of V.good, but it seems when listening to the tapes that ive done, occasionly the record thats coming in, does not drop in the way i want it to sound. I can only put this down to the use of the Eq's on my mixer.. So ave got a couple of questions.

    1. At what ideal level should the Bass, Middle, treble be set?
    2. Is it best to bring down the Eq's, gradually ready to mix in.
    3. Should the gain be used to bring in the vinyl mixin louder.
    4. Whats the best way to check the B/M/T against each other before mixin them in?

Not every mix is ****ed up, but occasionly, i get a record thats not good sound quality (Loudness) and i end up wacking up the gain, to try and bring it in better..

    ANY IDEAS GUYS

Why don't you do a mix and let everyone give you some feedback on what you may or may not be doing wrong?

Sinned, bung a tape my way if you want, i'll try to give you some advice. Does your mixer not have an LED display for the volumes? This is what I always use to make sure everything is going to come in at the right level. You should be able to view the levels on your incoming track, then adjust the gains to make sure it comes in at the same volume as your outgoing track.

tunes on the 33 speed normally need a bit extra on the gains as they tend to lose quality, also when playing Italian trance with the German stuff you might need to turn down the Highs and Mids a tad on the Italian tunes as their production tends to be crisper and more purcussive and it all sound a bit CRASHY when you bring it in or you may want to turn the german tunes gains up.
