    Default Zigo's PC Problems

Went to boot up myself one morning and received after BIOS check ---->

    Primary Master Hard Disk Failure
    Primary Slave Hard Disk Failure
    Floppy Disk Failure

How gutted am I???

This basically means going by the error messages that both my hard drives have failed (one being only 6 months old - 60 Gig beauty!!!) and floppy disk drive have failed all over one night. It's not possible surely???

So stripped my p.c down and started playing about with it to see if my process of elimination i could see what the actual problem was if it wasn't hard drive failures. I was unable to access the hard drives but could be a fault with the IDE controllers on the motherboard or the actual floppy link cable inside the system unit...

I so hope my hard drives aint knackered coz i have about 40 Gig of work and muzic (mp3's, samples and everything) all my own produced from software e.t.c... and all my internet related programs, i am also a website builder/developer and am running websites from my p.c too and all the files for them are stored on my hard drives too...

    absolutely devasted

anyone else experienced any problems like this before... any advise anyone? i just dont fancy the liklihood of spending a couple of hundred quid sorting this problem out now - lol

    thanx :)

Id remove the slave and make sure the jumpers on the master are set for a single master use (some bios's wont accept its there otherwise)

and see if itll boot up from the single harddrive, try swapping the master with the slave and botting the previous slave drive as the master, if the primarys gone bust the slave wont do anything either so you might be able to salvage that as your main drive until its sorted. if that doesnt work and you have any spare ide cables swap them round incase thats it
Sequence is coming. It's going throughout your imagination. It takes you where you've been before. A higher state of mind. Yeah, you remember the early times. Now were trying to take you again. In the deepest seas of your consciousness.....Time never stops

    cheers for that m8

ive actually tried all of that and it didnt solve the problem... quite strange really because adjusting the jumpers didnt seem to actually do a lot... and configured the BIOS for the slave and master and just couldnt resove it...

of the whole I.T scene, the internal components of the system unit is probably my weakest point so maybe I need to get someone that knows a bit more than me about it to have a look... I may be not doing something correctly perhaps, lol...

there is software out there that enables you to retrieve data, but most that i have used are'nt that good, if you take it to a specialist data recovery company, they will probably do a better job, but it's expensive.
Have you tried the hd since, if its a problem mechanically, sometimes they will work again for a short time before they get too warm again, then leave it for a week or so, and try it again.
This is how i got most of my data back from a hd that went down

hd's are like that, they are very mechanical, so they can just give up with no warning

Sounds like your motherboard is toasted to me mate. If it was just one hardrive gone, then it could be 3 things - The hardrive, the cable, the motherboard. But i really cant see 3 drives, or 3 cables going in one night, so its probably the motherboard...
