If you know which end of a soldering pen is the end that gets hot, you might do yourself a great service by building your own cables. Seriously - cables built with proper, nice, expensive connectors and high-quality cable will cost you about the same as a store-bought cable in the end, but you'll have a cable that'll last you a lot longer and is a lot better quality. Consider Neutrik or Switchcraft connectors, Canare or Mogami cable (very expensive tho), or maybe Sommer cable.

I've been making my own cables for a while, and I find that while a 10' 1/4" patch cord costs me about $18 CAD to build ($4 CAD each for Neutrik connectors, $1/foot for good bulk cable), I can easily spend $18 at the music store on a cable and I don't get nearly the quality.

Building your adapters using high-quality componants would cost you about $15 CAD total (what's that, about 5 quid?) and you'd have parts to scavenge from years from now. :)
