Post Steve Mac Paddy's Revenge The Irish Jig !! Out now On 3beat

    STEVE MAC ‘PADDY’S REVENGE’

Release Date: 15th September / Label: 3 Beat Blue

You can’t help but enjoy yourself if you’re dancing a jig! With ‘Paddy’s Revenge’, legendary producer / DJ Steve Mac has merged the old dance music with the new and has created the biggest, smash hit floorfiller of the summer! Released on 15th September on 3 Beat Blue, Paddy’s Revenge is already up to the ‘A’ list at Radio 1. Its first airing at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Maidstone saw Pete Tong, Vernon Kay, Zane Lowe and 10,000 clubbers all linking arms and dancing an Irish jig…

Steve Mac was approached by Steve B from creative music company ‘Big Fish Little Fish’ with an idea for a track that was either utter madness, or a stroke of genius; neither was quite sure which. Two weeks later as Pete Tong dropped it at the Radio 1 Big Weekend (before making it his ‘Essential New Tune’), it became apparent that ‘stroke of genius’ didn’t even begin to cover it! Since then the support for the record has been unrelenting, crossing genres and boundaries, championed by everyone from the uber-cool to the commercial.

The dance invented by Vernon Kay and Pete Tong, christened the ‘Rave Jig’ has also taken on a life of its own. It’s swept dancefloors from Ibiza to the UK, has been featured on Radio1 and in various UK media! YouTube is full of footage of clubbers dancing the jig to ‘Paddy’s Revenge’. Add to this the fantastic official video with stunning dancers also performing the Jig alongside Irish and Hollywood legend Patrick Bergin as the eponymous ‘Paddy’ and you’ve got a dead cert for a summer hit.

The track itself starts off as a groove that you might hear pumping from the speakers in any of the world’s coolest clubs, without a hint of what’s to come. Different elements of the traditional Irish instruments begin to loop their way into the track as it keeps building and building. Then all
becomes clear as it drops into the full, traditional Celtic chorus, backed up by Steve Mac’s understated dance beats, and before you know it your kilt’s above your knees and you’re dancing a jig!

Now with a range of cool remixes from Cahill, D.O.N.S and Skylark, ‘Paddy’s Revenge’ is this summer’s big hit. The tune is also a massive trailer for the BBC this summer on TV and radio. And with full support from Radio 1 DJs including Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Kissy Sell Out, Zane Lowe and Vernon Kay, there’ll be no escaping Paddy’s Revenge!

“This is a number one record” Pete Tong
