so what are some examples of high ratio and threshold also

and isn't it bad to place things such as distortion, compressor etc on the main mixer channel? it totally beefs up the sound way more then any bus or other chanel..the effects are totally increased when i place anything on the master chanel. i know this will cause everything to be effected but I cant get it to be that beefy otherwise.. any tips?
