Wow thats the first time I've read Marks comments on Hardstyle and they are pretty much bang on in my opinon too!

The only thing I don't agree on 100% is the that Hardstyle is a reaction against commercialism although I wish it was.

I agree that in this country there has been a massive reaction against commercialism for sometime now with music styles like Techno, Hardstyle, Hard European Trance getting a mass of interest. This obviously effects the DJ's who are playing and have been playing this sound.

Clubbers now are demanding good tunes played by good DJ's and no matter how big your line of your DJ rep this is by no way a gaurantee.

But as Hardstyle is a European sound, mainly Italian, can you honestly say that it was born over there as a reaction against commercailism!?!

In my opinion I would say no. In Italy the Hard Dance scene is only evident in the North and even then I don't feel its commercial enough to create a reaction!

So how and why was Hardstyle born?

I feel it was a fusion of influence, timimg, curiosity and above all luck. Proberly just like most music styles.

I would love peoples comments and views on this (nicely please).
