I heard the Hobo album after receiving 2 very good remixes of my ### project from him, I think actually, as far as the minimal "scene" goes, he's one of the more interesting producers out there right now. you listen to that album properly, and you can hear diverse influences ranging from good deep house, Cristian Vogel circa 1994 through to very modern minimal/dubstep fusion..
so, horses for courses and everything, but I can't quite understand how you would call this album "formulaic", when there are minimal copycat records out there that are far more worthy of that kind of abuse than this is, I mean, christ, who else out there is daring enough to put out stuff like the "skeletone" track off this? I mean, that sounds like old cristian vogel on tresor, hardly formulaic :S
