has anybody said Jeff Mills? I think the tunes he makes are perfect for layering up tunes in long mixes but there is still enough going on in them for them to sound good on their own. it's a shame he hasn't made anything in years

I'm going to shake it up a bit. My favorite Hip Hop producer by far has got to be Missy Elliot. Incredible.
Bás Ar An Impireacht

Aren`t a lot of her productions basically down to Timbaland though?
I am not here but my ghost still lingers

rza from the wu-tang is my fave hip hop producer, them early albums still sound dope

Yeah, for the most part- I should have included Timbaland, because he is bloody amazing.

Both Timbaland and Missy were great choices!
Both were mentored by Devante Swing from Jodeci.
I personally think Devante is one of the sickest and most underrated producers out there. Gotta love that New Jack Swing sound. Too bad crack cocaine addictions can ruin careers.
Honourable mentions:
Premier
Rza
Havoc
Dre
Ant Banks
Lord Finesse
Eric Sermon
DJ Muggs
Marly Marl
Pete Rock
