Yep. replace the pitch control mate. It sounds like you've got a permanent contact between the slide and the actual board either dust or spilt booze would do that.

As far as Im aware you can pick one up for around £30.00. It is painfully simple to replace. If you go down this route and need a hand I can talk you through if needs be- (webcam). It is really just a matter of reverse engineering though.
